Drama at Camps Bay Primary School

Camps Bay Primary School has a flourishing drama program. All classes take part in drama as part of the curriculum and this covers a wide variety of activities that include mime, poetry and imaginative creation. These classes are a space to explore creatively in a physical space as well as learn about theatre.

On the Prep Campus all the classes are taken for speech and drama classes with a specialist teacher where the children work on clarity and projection of speak, learn to perform poems and explore expression in language.

On the Primary Campus we have annual plays for Grade 3, Grade 6 and Grade 7 as well as showcases for Grade 4 and 5. These shows allow many opportunities for all the children to take part and experience what it is like to be on stage. We spend a lot of time working on the confidence of the children to be able to speak in public.

As well as drama classes during school, we also drama as one of our extra murals on the Primary Campus. Mr Loots is in charge of extra mural drama and the learners have a wonderful time exploring expression, staging and drama terminology as well as taking part in outside Eisteddfods.
